We work with you to help answer clinical questions through diagnostic ultrasound and FNA sampling, if indicated.

Indications for Ultrasound

Common indications:    

Heart murmur

Abnormal lab values – elevated liver enzymes, Azotemia 

GI signs – chronic vomiting and/or diarrhea, inappetence, abdominal pain 

Urinary dysfunction – suspected cystitis, hematuria, stranguria


 Blood work changes: 

Elevated ALT/AST

Elevated ALP

Persistent Azotemia         

Elevated Bile Acids

Hyperbilirubinemia

Anemia / thrombocytopenia


Radiographic changes: 

Organomegaly

Pulmonary mass

Mediastinal mass 

Effusions

Pulmonary edema

Mass densities 

Ascites

Calculi

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging modality that is typically low-stress. However, light sedation and/or pre-hospital medications are often very helpful.

Fine needle aspirate of certain pathology can help lead to a diagnosis.
